Vintage Luggage Transformation

Hi Folks!  Still here.  It's been a very busy summer for four children and nothing but rain since the middle of June.  I think I have actually become a mushroom with webbed feet!  I have a number of projects I'm going to be showing you, but first is this quickie I did today.




This is a piece of luggage that I have had since I was a little girl and used for trips to my grandparents farm.

It comes with fond memories of tea parties with my grandmother.

I love the case, just not in love with the color anymore.  

So I gave it a good coat of primer first:

Then a couple of coats of Old White:

I then I made a Compass Rose stencil and adhered it to the top of the lid:

Delicate little sucker I tell you!

Then I gave the top a couple of coats of French Linen. 

I then removed the stencil once the paint had dried.

After all that had dried, I went over the whole piece with a stain and gave it several coats of a finishing matt coat so that it protect the paint job.

Here the finished piece with a little French and a little Steampunk mixed together!

Not bad for a few hours work!
